What is Gorodets?
It’s a traditional Russian folk art originationg from Gorodets town, known for its vibrant colors (red, orange, blue, green), black outlines, and characteristics subjects like horses, birds, flowers, and genre scenes (tea drinking,- festivities).
Typical application decorating wooden items like spinning wheels, furniture, and kitchenware.
My journey into the vibrant world of Gorodets painting begaan during my university years, a pivotal time when i was deeply engaged in preparing for my diploma project. I was incredibly fortunate to have a teacherwho was not only highly specialized in this fascinating traditional Russian folk art but also passionate about sharing its unique beauty.
She recognized my interest and talent, and generously offered me the invaluable opportunity to delve into the Gorodets style under her direct guidance. It was through her expertise and mentorship that truly immersed myself in its distinctive techniques, rich symbolism, and the joyful spirit embodies.This period of dedicated study, under the tutelage of such a knowledgable master, laid the foundation for my early artistic exploration and ignited a lifelong appreciation for the intricate artistry of Gorodets.
